Main characters
editBarry Allen / Flash
edit- According to Grant Gustin, Barry spent his time in the speed force watching his life from start to end, and he'll have much better insight into himself. He'll also be a much lighter version of Barry in a much lighter season, a welcome reprieve from the darkness that has overtaken the show in recent years. Welcomed by both the audience and the actor. Gustin said Season 3 was hard on him, admitting that he sometimes went home and cried in the shower.[1]

Reception
editIris West
edit- Iris will be stepping up as team leader, trying to do what Barry told her to do. According to star Candace Patton, that means stepping back from her journalism career and taking over as leader of Team Flash at Star Labs. She'll be playing a similar role to Felicity/Overwatch on their sister show, Arrow.Cite error: The opening

tag is malformed or has a bad name (see the help page). - Candice is really — making her the team leader, which unfortunately didn’t occur to us until this season, has really given her the agency on the show that she hasn’t always had. She’s always been smart, and funny, and proud, and brave, and eager, but she didn’t always have the authority that she has this season. It’s really nice to see her making decisions, and telling people where to go, and what to do, and Candice has really risen to the challenge, as we knew that she would.[2]

Caitlin Snow / Killer Frost
edit- "When she left, she had to go deal with this on her own, figure out exactly who she was and how to deal with this newfound person inside of her. When we find her, she's had time to figure it out," he says. "Her personality has slightly altered a little bit, so she's not the Caitlin we saw in Season 3 or the seasons before that."[3]

Eddie Thawne
editCisco Ramon / Vibe
editHarrison Wells
editEobard Thawne / Reverse-Flash
edit- "No matter how many ups and downs The Flash has had over its run, it has never faltered when it comes to its characterization of Thawne." [3]
Joe West
editWally West / Kid Flash
edit- Wally will also be taking on new responsibilities this season as he goes from Kid Flash to just The Flash. That transition is a big challenge, though, says Keiynan Lonsdale. Wally's relationship with Iris will also deepen as the two work through their respective grief over losing Barry.Cite error: The opening

Clifford DeVoe / Thinker
editCecile Horton
editRalph Dibny / Elongated Man
edit- "There’s going to be a lot of conflict between them in terms of how to be a good guy. Ralph is hitting on everybody all the time. He’s brash and loud and doesn’t listen."[4]
- His famed comic book love interest could appear on the show, but you’ll have to be patient. “We want to wait to get to know Ralph and exhaust Ralph where he is before he meets Sue,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg says. “Ralph and Sue are endgame, as the kids like to say, so you don’t want to bring her in too soon. But that’s definitely in our plan. Not for this year, but we’ll see.”[5]
