During the 1960s I was a civil rights worker with CORE and SCLC in California, Alabama, Mississippi (see Bruce Hartford for details).
Later I was a student activist at San Francisco State College during the long student strike for Third-World studies, a freelance journalist in Asia covering Vietnam War matters, a founding member and long-time national officer of the National Writers Union (NWU).
By profession I was a technical writer in Silicon Valley (now retired). I am also the author of several books about the Civil Rights Movement.
I am currently webspinner of the Civil Rights Movement Archive historical website which documents the Southern Freedom Movement.
