ZODIAC MOTHERFUCKER (often abbreviated to ZMF) is a commentator who frequents The A.V. Club comment boards. He has attracted alot of attention for his distinct, aggressive all-caps writing style and his professed love of various "low-brow" films, such as Crank.[1] Frequent speculation that ZMF was actually a cleverly constructed persona, perhaps created by an AV Club staff member, fueled further interest in him.

AV Club Coverage of ZMF

edit

The A.V. Club is a popular entertainment website with over 1.4 million unique users a month. [2]In time, staff writers at The A.V. Club took the unusual step of occasionally referring to ZMF in the actual articles. Beginning in 2008 The A.V. Club started publishing articles which heavily featured ZMF's writing, or were entirely about ZMF, or about something he created, such as a a commentary track for Crank 2.[3][4][5][6]. At the end of 2008, The A.V. Club invited celebrities such as Ben Gibbard, Edgar Wright and ZODIAC MOTHERFUCKER to discuss their pick for the best film of 2008. [7]

Growing Fame

edit

ZMF has received coverage in many sources outside The A.V. Club, such as an article on www.ifc.com in 2009 entitled "In praise of ZODIAC MOTHERFUCKER.".[8][9]

YouTube

edit

ZMF has created a series of videos on YouTube called "GREAT MOMENTS IN OWNAGE', showing some of his favourite brutal film scenes. Combined these videos have had at least 50,500 views.[10]
