Bio
editAbout me
editI'm a college student in Snohomish County studying education. I haven't quite decided if I want to pursue education or switch to marine biology, but I'm hoping to figure it out soon. I love writing poetry and I write often. I'm quite good at writing assignments in English classes, and I'm a strong reader. My hobbies include writing and reading poetry, playing video games, and spending time with family and friends. My favorite game at the moment is Slime Rancher 2, which just came out on September 22nd. The game is still in early access, so there's still plenty of content to be added in the future. [1]
My Wikipedia Interests
editI really enjoy frogs. While they're not my favorite animal, they are very adorable and I love them. My favorite animal would have to be the red panda. While many people believe red pandas were named after their resemblance to giant pandas, it was actually the other way around. The red panda was first classified in 1825, and when giant pandas were discovered later on, they were given their panda named based on similarities to red pandas. [2] I'm very interested in reading about animals, as I have loved animals my whole life.
Article Evaluation
editFor my article evaluation, I found myself on the article about maraschino cherries. After reading it through, I found three aspects of it worth commenting on: its educational properties, its citations, and its information on common uses.
The article on maraschino cherries has incredible educational properties. The author includes a large history of the cherry, where it originates and how long they've been common. After reading the article, I can definitely say I learned some new facts about a sweet treat I've loved for so long. The author goes on to say how maraschino cherries are prepared and when it all started. There's also a good amount of description on how maraschino cherries were quite rare for a while and why that was the case. I believe that this article does a really good job with educating its readers on the history of maraschino cherries and how they came to be.
The citations on this article, while mostly reliable, seem to be a bit old. The majority of the sources used are from 2005 to 2010, with a few outliers. While it is understandable that they can't all be present because most research to be done on maraschino cherries has already been done, and it's doubtful there will be new sources on the cherry as time passes, I would like to see if there's any newer things to be said about maraschino cherries from the last couple of years or so. The information in the article seems to be legit, and the citations are formatted nicely, I just wonder if there are any newer updates or news on the cherries that could be added to this article.
The information on common uses is also a very interesting section. The article does quite a good job of providing examples of drinks, alcoholic and not, that maraschino cherries are used in, however the "uses" section is a bit short. This might be because there aren't a whole lot of uses worth mentioning, or maybe there just aren't as many uses as I think there are, but I noticed that this section is significantly shorter than the rest. I would love some more information on uses, as I am a bit of a maraschino cherry enthusiast myself.
The Wikipedia article on maraschino cherries is a very well written article. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and learning new things I didn't know before about the cherries and their history. Each paragraph and each sentence was well thought out, and clearly had a lot of research behind them. I only wish to know if there were a more recent update on the cherry.
