J. Nathan Matias (CAT Lab account)
I use this account when contributing to Wikipedia in my capacity as founder of the Citizens and Technology Lab (CAT Lab, formerly CivilServant), which does collaborative research on Wikipedia together with Wikipedians.
My personal account, which I have used for previous research projects, is at User:Rubberpaw.
As founder of CAT Lab and as an academic researcher, I work alongside the public through citizen behavioral science to discover and test ideas for a safer, fairer, more understanding internet. I am currently an assistant professor at the Cornell University Department of Communication. My role as visiting scholar at the MIT Media Lab ended in 2020. I completed my PhD at the MIT Media Lab Center for Civic Media and was a fellow and affiliate at the Berkman Center from 2013 through 2017.
In 2015, I organized a project on Meta to create a resource guide to research on online harassment and other content moderation questions. It's due an update, so contact me if you're interested (I can be found at jmatias@princeton.edu)
I am also an active contributor on AcaWiki, where I summarize academic publications for a public audience.
