Content Gap: 2018-02-09

edit

Content gaps are important topics within an article that is not covered and/or addressed by adequately. Content gaps arise when the author does not cover the topic being discussed sufficiently leaving out necessary details. You identify the content gaps by performing a content gap analysis. This is done by reading through the article, after reading if any question arise that the article is unable to answer this is an indication of a content gap.

The article Engineering Economist doesn't exist. No entry has been made on the page.

Content gaps tend to arise when the author is unable to cover the topic adequately due to lack of sources or classifying information as irrelevant to the topic being discussed. This can be rectified by doing extensive research and reading through the article multiple times, if questions are left unanswered the author should try to filled that information gap.

It doesn't matter who writes Wikipedia articles and should not be limited to civil engineers. Everyone has access to information making them equally capable, provided that the are educated on how to properly write and edit Wikipedia articles.

To be 'unbiased' on Wikipedia means showing no prejudge to the article your writing. This is similar to my definition of bias or in this case unbiased, as a Wikipedia editor and/or writer it is important to neglect ones personal feelings when writing a Wikipedia article.

Creating an Wikipedia Article

edit

in order to create an article in wiki on this journal one needs to do the following:

  • Research extensively the relationship between engineering and economics.
  • Find multiple reputable sources on the topic being discussed, compare and contrast the information from the different sources.
  • Information taken from these sources so not be paraphrased or directly quoted. One should translate the information using their own words. Site all sources in the reference section of the articles
  • It is essential that the tone of the article remains unbiased throughout and the information represented is equally distributed.

  • the article contained a few content gap, so the following information was added to the career section of the article : 'He served as vice-president of the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1876 and president in 1878.'
  • Base on the information added, " An Orbituary notice of William Milnor Robert", Proceedings of American Philosophical Society, January 1882, was addeed to the reference section of the article.
