Draft Feature Proposal
'Misc. Articles' psuedo-category for High-level categories
editAs new articles get added and categorized, they are often placed in high-level categories, flooding those category pages with typically, the lower-quality articles (since higher-quality articles would often already be refined as to category). Viewers browsing by category would see those.
For categories that are subcategories of [:Category:Categories requiring diffusion], either directly, or by having template {{tl:catdiffuse}} placed on them, all articles directly in the category would no longer be shown under a section on that page 'Pages in category Category Name'. Instead, a entry in the subcategories section would be added for 'Miscellaneous'. The entry would be sorted after all other existing subcategories.
Clicking on the 'Miscellaneous' would navigate to a view of the 'Pages in category Category Name' section as it appears today on the Category pages.
This would be a display-only feature
Benefits - The category page would show all subcategories on the first page (or at least up to 200 of them) The miscellaneous pages would not receive undue focus by either dominating the category page, pushing high-importance subcategories further back.
Drawbacks - New/Existing editors may be less inspired to refine the category of these articles, since they would be 'out-of-sight, out-of-mind'
(Possible?) Certain articles could be identified as 'core' to a category topic - and show up under the 'Pages' in category section. This would be done on the category page, so that the category would control which pages were core, rather than individual pages controlling it.
