DMITRI CAPYRIN (KAPYRIN), composer was born in Moscow on 28 February 1960. He graduated from the Moscow Music College in 1979 and the Lviv (Lemberg) Conservatoire in 1984, where he studied composition with Leshek Mazepa. In 1992 he took part in a master class with the composers Poul Ruders and Edison Denisov and a workshop with the percussionist Gert Sørensen in Denmark. In 1994 he has awarded the Second prize at the Concorso di Composizione – ICONS 1994 in Torino, Italy (for chamber work Sounds and Voices). In 1996 his orchestral work Dreams received honorable mention at the International Competition of Musical Composition in Besançon, France. In 1995 he received a scholarship of the Berlin Akademie der Kunste and spend two months in Germany working on his stage composition Incarnation of Colour. He writes music for symphony orchestra, chamber ensemble, solo instruments, choir and voice, for theatre productions and musical computer games.
