Hello, I'm Carries_mum. This is an ancient user handle from the 1990s. Carrie now towers over me by many inches.
I am a fan of Open Access, the Institutional Repository and Open Science. I recently spent several months on the other side of the Digital Divide. It was an excellent learning experience.
I enjoy creating and reading well-written rules, instructions and guidelines.
In my undergraduate and graduate science courses, in addition to teaching research and academic content, I also cover practical skills. These include blogging, creating metadata, communicating science with social media AND also, how to contribute to Wikipedia and Wikimedia.
Consequently, I have memorized the notability guidelines for Academics on Wikipedia.
ps A young woman whom I don't know recently created a wikipedia page for me. While this was very lovely, I have actually, long been asking members of the STEM community with an interest in Wikipedia, to write pages for far more low visibility, though much more notable, and often ignored, Women in STEM.
