I have very recently (April 2008) decided to try to get back into working on wikipedia.
I made some contributions back in 2004. Of these, only one survives, but I'm weirdly proud that one sentence I wrote has survived completely unchanged for 4 years: Arcata, California - "Arcata is a classic example of a traditional "college town" — with all the concomitant cultural advantages, but also with the inevitable tensions that arise between year round residents and the student population."
One reason I want to contribute is that I like to spend time "surfing" wikipedia as a way to relax, and, far too frequently, I run across small stylistic or grammatical mistakes, or broken links or missing articles, that I feel a desire to correct - so, now I have a username to log in under to make such corrections. My first effort was promptly undone. I have much to learn.
I was born and raised in Arcata, but the Twin Cities of Minnesota are my adoptive home. I currently reside in Ilsan, Republic of Korea. I have a particular interest in articles on geographical topics, especially about the many places where I have lived at some point in the past, including Humboldt and Minneapolis, but also Mexico City, Chicagoland, Southern Chile, Southern California, and Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey.
I may also make efforts to support articles on Spanish Language literature - in particular Spanish Golden Age (e.g. Cervantes) and Modernist / Postmodernist Latin American.
I have also recently attempted a few edits in the Spanish Language wikipedia. I think there is a lot of room for improvement in the Spanish coverage of South Korean geographical topics, for example. You can also see my profile in Spanish wikipedia.
