Overview
editAkdeniz is located along the Gulf of İzmir bordering Kültür (North), İsmet Kaptan (East) and Konak (South). The area was part of a 1924 city plan by French urban planner Henri Prost, after the Great Fire of Smyrna in 1922. This can be seen in the

editAkdeniz has four main boulevards, two on a north-south and two on an east-west axis, and two of which constitute as a border of the neighborhood. Cumhuriyet Boulevard is the main north-south route on the east side of Akdeniz, entering the neighborhood near Konak Pier and running north to Cumhuriyet Square, where it continues into Kültür. Gazi Osman Paşa Boulevard is the second north-south throughway and constitutes as the neighborhoods eastern border. Fevzi Paşa Boulevard runs along the southern border of Akdeniz, from the intersection with Gazi Osman Paşa Boulevard west to the the intersection with Cumhuriyet Boulevard. Gazi Boulevard enters from the east and runs west toward the intersection with Cumhuriyet Boulevard.
