Joe Giglio (born September 30th, 1986) co-hosts a sports talk radio program called The Shore Sports Report on both WOBM (AM) in Bayville, NJ and Fox Sports Radio 1310AM, located in Ocean, New Jersey. These two stations are known as The Shore Sports Network and are the radio home of the Lakewood Blueclaws, Monmouth University Athletics, and the New York Jets. Along with co-host and longtime best friend Mike Krenek, Giglio tackles both national and local sports news. He is a member of the Class of '04 from Monsignor Donovan High School in Toms River, New Jersey. In 2008, he graduated from DeSales University with a major in sports management.
Early Career
editGiglio got his start in radio at DeSales University, where (also with Krenek) he co-hosted a highly successful sports talk program Let's Play Two! on the university's internet radio station, WDSR. After graduating from DeSales, he worked various jobs to make ends meet as he and Krenek worked toward their goal of success in sports talk radio. In October 2008, he and Krenek began a regular spot on Viewpoints with Lockwood Phillips on The Talk Station, located in Morehead City, North Carolina. Every Thursday night, they hosted a 15 minute segment entitled "The U Talk Sports Block."
The Shore Sports Report
editWhile working at Fed-Ex, Joe began to bring his tapes around to local radio stations. In February 2009, he was contacted by Kevin Williams of WOBM (AM) in Bayville, New Jersey. After a meeting, Giglio and Krenek were offered an afternoon drive spot on Fox Sports 1310. On March 9th, 2009, The Shore Sports Report debuted. The show originally ran from 3pm-5pm, but after strong response, it was changed to a 3 hour format, ending at 6pm. After a very successful 6 months, it was the decided that the show be simulcast on WOBM out of Bayville. The program debuted on WOBM on September 8th, 2009 while continuing to air on Fox Sports 1310.
Personal Life
editGiglio resides in Ramtown, New Jersey. He is a die-hard fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants, New York Rangers, and New York Knicks. He lists Don Mattingly, John Starks, Eli Manning and Chris Childs as his favorite athletes of all time.
