John is a graduate of Edinburgh College of Art and The Royal College of Art in London. Among his many awards for his watercolours he was awarded the RCA drawing prize, The Whyte’s Auctioneers award, The K&M Evans award, The Watercolour Society of Ireland’s President's award, The Royal Watercolour Society (London) Artists award and the RCA Berger Colour Prize. He is a member of The Irish Watercolour society and regularly exhibits in Ireland, UK and China and his work is represented in many corporate and private collections in Ireland and internationally. Sketchbook drawing and experimentation with media have always formed the basis to his work. As well as watercolour painting John also has applied his images on ceramics and 3D sculptural drawings. He has produced work from field trips to Europe, North Africa, USA, Australia and China. Originally from Fife in Scotland, John was Senior Lecturer in Drawing and Imagemaking in DIT. He lives and works in Dalkey, County Dublin.[1]
