editInformational Index | Description
The Free Republic of Argenslavi, commonly known as the Republic of Argenslavi or simply Argenslavi, is an unrecognized micronation laying claim to neutral territory in West Antarctica.
Argenslavi claims the region of Antarctica known as the Marie Byrd Land, bordering the Antarctic Circle to the north, South Pole to the south, Chilean Antarctic Territory to the east, and Ross Dependency to the west. This gives the nation an estimated potential land area of 1,610,000 square kilometers (620,000 sq. mi.), making it the largest unrecognized micronation in the world. Argenslavi is not currently recognized by any sovereign nation-state or UN member state [ ]. According to the 2010 Argenslavic Census, Argenslavi has a permanent population of zero [ ].
The government of Argenslavi consists of a hereditary constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary rule. The acting monarch is King Christopher I, who has reigned since his birth on 12 September 1999 [ ]. (It should be noted that all acting monarchs of Argenslavi inherit the title of Ruler-from-Birth during coronation proceedings [ ].) The declared capital of Argenslavi is Pine Island Bay [ ], located on the Amundsen Sea in Antarctic waters. Inaccessible year-round due to sea ice [ ], and with Amundsen-Scott Base being the nearest inhabited settlement, the city is completely isolated. Hence, it currently has no activity or infrastructure of any kind. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [placeholder]
