About Me

Hello my name is Cameron Hubbell. I was born on April 22, 2002, witch makes me 19 years old as of today. Some of my hobbies include but are not limited to homework, playing games, and cuddling my cat. What kind of games do i play you ask? Well I play all sorts of games; from action adventure games to puzzle games, from video games to table top games to card games. As well as these things I enjoy music and food. All different types of food, but most especially seafood. Just like my taste is food, my taste in music is extremely diverse. Music tends to for a direct relationship with those who listen. A person whom has developed complex, diverse taste in music have created more relationships, musically, than the next.

My Wikipedia Intentions

In the long term I plan to bring my vast pools of random knowledge to the internet. There are many subject where i may not be an expert, but i do know quite a lot about the topic. Many of witch do not already have Wikipedia pages of their own.

Article Evaluation

I enjoy learning about all the people and places that made up the ancient world. Since I was young I have always been fascinated by the cultures and the mythos' of what was. Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Ancient Egypt, Ancient China. I visited the Abraha article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: the recentness of the sources, the accuracy of the grammar, and the relevancy of the information.

The page does have references for its factual statements, but most of them are not what we would ideally like to see. Five of the pages seventeen sources are from the 1900's, four of the sources are from before 2010, and the rest are from within the past 10 years. While many of the sources seem to be up to date there are still more than half that are outdated for the current times. Many of the more current sources are books where the author, of the Wikipedia page, does provide an authors name as well as page numbers to find the sited material. While the author, of the page, does not provide us with direct access to their source material they do provide us with adequate information to be able to find it on our own.

Like most works of literature there are bound to be grammatical errors as well as things the author did exceptionally well. As far as I can tell there are actually not inaccuracies with the grammar. Whether spelling, punctuation, or capitalization I can not seem to find any mistakes. One thing the author does do, in regards to grammar, that I do really like is that the provide little hints to things. This could be adding a phenetic spelling of a name so the reader knows how to pronounce it, the original spelling of names before translation, or even providing an alternate spelling from a different translation of the names.

Now time to really dive into the meat of the article. The ending of the article says that beyond the stuff stated in the article there is little to no other mention of his expeditions even in his own inscriptions. This was a little disappointing to see because the article on Abraha is rather small and does not have too much information about him other than some of the important dates and most important battles. The information the article does provide, though, stays away from the authors personal biases and sticks right to the facts.

While having some things that could use a little fine tuning and changing, there in not anything that really need to be changed. Is the article perfect, no. It has some out dated sources, a couple sources that lead to websites that do not exist anymore, but all the information seems to be supported and factual. It had no grammatical errors that I could find and even did some things that I have not commonly seen. The author of the article sticks very close to the facts and does not dilute them with personal opinions. All in all this is a very well put together page of Wikipedia, even though it is relatively small with little information.
