Notes can be added, using a different reference group. For example,

This is a normal fact with a reference - at the end of this line, it has <ref> "Sample Book", by Mr. Foo, Published by Baa, 1932 </ref> - and that will create a normal reference link numbered '1' just here.[1]

This line has a note at the end, with the code <ref group=Note> Some very interesting note here. </ref> - so it'll show up as a 'note' reference.[Note 1]

You can name notes, just like any other reference, and use them several times. This line has a note at the end, with the code <ref name=sausages group=Note> A footnote about sausages. Did you know that [[Botulism]] literally means "sausage poisoning"? </ref> - so it'll show up as a 'note' reference.[Note 2]

And this line uses the same reference again, just with <ref name=sausages group=Note/> - so it'll show up as a 'note' reference, and a second link from the note, using 'a' and 'b'.[Note 2]
