Current Projects

edit

As I work full-time, Wikipedia is something which I like to casually contribute to. I'm particularly interested in public transport, but it is by no means the only area I am interested in!

Here are some of the current projects I am (slowly) working through...

Reformatting and re-colouring bus routes across Wikipedia pages on the Adelaide Metro network

edit

The South Australian Public Transport Authority (SAPTA) have developed wayfinding rulebook which outlines refreshed colours for bus, train and tram routes. While the train network was an easy fix, the bus network is a bit of a mess, with various different applications across Adelaide Metro-related wikipedia articles. To see how this change is progressing, check out List of public transport routes in Adelaide. As I get around to railway station pages with bus connections, I intend to update the colour scheme for bus routes, in cases where this hasnt been done yet. To make things easier for continued application of this colour scheme, I have added bus route colours to the Adelaide Metro adjacent stations template. The colour template can be used in place of HEX codes like so:

Example Colour Template:

#{{rcr|Adelaide|East West}}

Applied to a bus route number template: 123

{{AdelaideMetroBus | bgcolour=#{{rcr|Adelaide|Outer North East}} | ftcolour=#000 | rte=123}}

Refreshing Adelaide Metro railway station pages

edit

Most Adelaide Metro station pages haven't been properly updated in many years, and some have outdated, incorrect, or extensively uncited information. Currently, I am working through station pages to update/refresh and clean up infoboxes, as well as addressing other minor issues where possible. I'm also hoping to add SAPTA standard icons for different public transport modes, which can then be applied to station info boxes. You can see an example of a refreshed infobox, including the updated bus icon, at Mawson Lakes railway station. I have an unhealthy obsession with aesthetics and am committed to improving the look of Adelaide Metro related wikipedia pages to bring them up to the same standard as other networks around Australia and the world (if only Adelaide Metro and DIT could do the same with their infrastructure...)

Additionally, many stations do not have photos, or have very old photos. I intend to take new photos of stations where possible, but I also encourage anyone else to upload railway station photos on Wikimedia!
