Bob "The Bullet" Biniak
Early Life
editBorn in 1958 in Chicago, USA. He moved as a baby to Santa Monica, where he began surfing and skating at age 12, and later was recruited for the Zephyr Skate Team.
Zephyr Skate Team
editHe competed in the Del Mar Nationals in Del Mar, California in 1975, and later described the Zephyr Team's presence at the contest as "Like a hockey team going into a figure skating match". He was interviewed in SkateBoarder Magazine's Pool Riding Symposium. Biniak was featured in SkateBoarder's "Who's Hot" bio section and a full length interview later on. And in SkateBoarder magazine's 1st annual poll held in '77, he was voted one of the top ten skateboarders of the year.
Later Career
editAfter the Zephyr Team split up, he skated for Sims, then later Logan Earth Ski. In 1980, after his skating career ended he attended Mission College, where he started his golfing career. He toured professionally in Florida, California and Europe. He played recently in the Sectional Qualifying round on the US Senior Open in 2008. After golf, Biniak created a golf equipment exporting company, and later on BB Sports and Apparel. Biniak lived with his wife Charlene and baby daughter Brie in Malibu, California. He enjoyed playing golf, flyfishing, and surfing on his Jeff Ho designed surfboards.
Death
editBiniak suffered a massive cardiac arrest on Sunday, February 21st, 2010, and passed away Thursday, February 25th, 2010, at 12:51pm Eastern Standard Time at the Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. He leaves behind an amazing skate legacy, as well as his wife and daughter.
