Clyde petty born april 6 1981 and raised in central Illinois had a life in the fast lane from a early age working in the family Corvette restoration bussiness clyde understood the attention to detail and how to make things exceed there limit all while maintaining a sense of class. Clyde moved to Florida in the early 2000s and had a passion for offshore boat racing and anything water related.clyde was introduced to building boats and design at the early age if 21 and the passion never stopped. Clyde worked for numerous performance boat company's for the sheer reason of gaining knowledge for all aspects of high performance boating. Clyde started his career at wellcraft marine and has worked for donzi cigarette phantom all while retaining all the tricks of the trade. Clyde started racing offshore boats in 2005 and raced a few times and won a few races, but was forced to stop racing due to the collapse of the economy around 2005 and the birth if his child. Although clyde never gave up on his dream of offshore racing he changed his path for a few years and opened a few thriving businesses in the Illinois area which include the scrap steel bussiness and pawn bussiness he then moved back to Florida after selling both bussiness and it was on from that point. In the summer of 2017 he was approached buy a renowned offshore and world championship team clyde raced the 2017 season with a 30 phantom the two cruel. During that season clyde decided if your going to do something right you need to do it yourself, and that's what he did he purchased a 1990 Larry Smith 28 v bottom world champion boat that had more history then could be remembered. Clyde restored the boat with the help of his friend Robert bryant and in may 2018 the ROLLIN DIRTY OFFSHORE brand was born they competed and placed in every single race that season and managed to collect a 3rd in the world in key west under the organization superboat international and then followed that up with a 2nd in a world racing with opa the following season was much more relaxed and he had the idea of purchasing a new boat a canopy boat for the 2020 season and that's just what he did . Clyde purchased a 32 phantom canopy single engine race boat from jra boat sales that had previously been raced 1 time buy motorcycle legend travis pastrana. And then the heat was on with never leaving well enough alone clyde within months of owning the spec style canopy race boat clyde completely de rigged the boat and wanted to do something that had never been tried before. Clyde started with the powerplant he opted for a 572 ci powerplant topped with a 10/71 roots style supercharger makeing in the range of 1200 Hp. In the summer of 2020 clyde realized not only his passion for owning and racing his boat he found the passion for the friendships and the growth of the sport of offshore racing which lead him to founding The Florida Offshore Racers Association. Knowing the difficulties in getting into the sport and having to be the NEW guy he wanted to start a club for all Florida based teams to become a part of and have some sort of a voice. So in the fall of 2020 he did just that his formed a board of directors and that lead them to the finish line promoting a new years annual party and possibly some inventational only offshore races as they were in the mid 60s and 70s as clyde would say a man vrs machine race
