North Paulding High School is a public school located in Dallas, GA. The school was built due to overcrowding in Paulding County. Paulding was listed as the eighth fastest growing county in the nation from 2000 to 2009, with a population growth from 81613 residents in 2000 to 136,655 residents in 2009. [1] North Paulding was projected to open in 2008, but due to over-crowding in the near by East Paulding High School, North Paulding had to open up a year early in 2007. In the school's first year, North Paulding only taught freshman and had to use Sammy McClure Middle School as it's teaching facility until the actual high school opened in 2008. There are 2 other schools that share a campus with North Paulding, Sammy McClure Middle School and Burnt Hickory Elementary School.[2]
Academics
editNorth Paudling High teaches grade leveles 9-12. The school teaches on a hybrid block schedule, meaning the students can take a mix of semester classes and traditional year long classes. There are many programs students can learn about in both the college prep, and tech prep departments. Some of these programs include: Business Education, Marketing Education, Construction Education, Automotive Technology Education, Engineering, Drafting and Design, Culinary Arts, Public Safety, Healthcare Science, and Cosmetology. Extra Curricular & Athletics
editNorth Paulding offers many after school clubs and organizations, as well as many athletic teams. Some of the clubs available are: Chorus, Band, Beta, Foreign Language Club, FBLA, FCS, NHS, FBLA, DECA, HOSA, FCCSA, Skills USA, and 4-H organizations. The school is a division AAAA team region 5 in Georgia. [4] Although it is a new school, North Paulding has many reputable sports teams. The Varsity Football teams wide receiver, Chris Conley, is getting a full ride scholarship to play football at The University of Georgia. He was also looked at by Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Stanford, and Clemson. [5]
