My name is Erik and I'm a twenty-one year-old university student in my senior year who is majoring in English Literature with a minor in Political Science. My central areas of interest on Wikipedia are Catholicism, religion in general, mythology, Greek civilization, Medieval studies/literature, Irish studies/lit, Shakespeare, Chaucer, the Romantic Period, Pre-Raphaelies, Theatre, poetry of all kinds, and other old-fassion type things. My honors thesis, which sought to disprove the theory that Chaucer was an early Protestant thinker, was recently approved by the honors council. Soon I hope to add elements from my thesis to articles concerning Chaucer and other related areas of British history and literature. I've already added a very needed section no Apostolic Authrotiy to the article on The Pardoner's Tale, and hope to add more as time permits and my scholarship advances.
I spent my last summer directing Shakespeare's The Tempest, interning for a newspaper, and doing amazing thing with my ex-girlfriend. I have a strong devotion to Christ and the Roman Catholic Church and am seriously considering joining the priesthood. But should I decide that is not my true calling, I will likely go into journalism with the eventual goal of earning my PhD and becoming a professor of English. As for what happens right after graduation, I'm not really sure. I hope to get a decent local government job to help pay of my student loans and afterward go to grad school for medieval studies, but I don't really know where I want to go yet.
Oh, and in case you are wondering about my strange user name, the explanation is simple. One of my favorite activities to do with my theatre friends is a wonderful thing called contra dancing. And anyone who has observed me attempting to keep up with the caller will agree that I appear quite the fool.
