In the United Kingdom the Monarch is the supreme governor of the Church of England. In Scotland the Monarch is required to be an ordinary member of the Church of Scotland.

Members of parliament are required to swear allegiance to the queen. Previously Members were required make a religious swearing Oaths Act 1888 changed this allowing MPs to to make solemn affirmation insted.
