Northern Light (country)Compounded in the year 1867 as a subsidiary of Iceland. "When settlers landed on Iceland's mainland, they were struck with the blatancy of the auroras in the sky."- (James Tanny) The Norðurljós, or Northern Light's Northern Light's as commonly referred to in English, are a colorful glow caused by ice crystals formulating high in the sky, reflecting off sunlight.

The country is run off a democratic agenda. Its leaders are elected through bi - yearly elections. While the country is technically a part of Iceland, they do fly their own flag. They refer to themselves, and each other as "rays." In reference to the colorful rays of light as often seen, in the Northern Light's.

Leadership is taken from Iceland, aside from the political theatre president Reberta Gislason.

Flag:

The flag was designated as re-designed in 2009, when schoolchildren from the Icelandic mainland won the bid. New flags were distributed to residences. Original flags have a gray backing, and are considered rare by experts.

Settlement:

The recorded history of Northern Light began with the settlement by Viking explorers and the people they enslaved from the east, particularly Norway and the British Isles, in the late ninth century. Northern Light was still uninhabited long after the rest of Western Europe had been settled. Recorded settlement has conventionally been dated back to 874, although archaeological evidence indicates Gaelic monks from Ireland, known as papar according to sagas, had settled Northern Light earlier.[1]

Economics:

The countries main export is fish, and fish products. The fishing industry is very pungent, and draws tourists from around the world to the Northern Light shores. Whitefish, and Salmon are the most popular catches.
