In order to rejuvenate the efforts to correct Wikipedia's biographical pages with several incompatible dates of birth, Dsp13 and I (Cryptic C62) have decided to host a contest! In essence, it is quite simple: fix more errors than anyone else, and you'll receive a schweet barnstar. The contest will be broken up into two categories: total corrections and batchwork.
- Total Corrections
After all the entries have been cleared out, the editor who has made the most, second most, and third most corrections will receive gold, silver, and bronze barnstars respectively. In the unlikely event of a tie, no attempt will be made at a tiebreaker; the barnstar will be shared. Close runners-up will also receive fun barnstars of some other not-quite-so-shiny metal.
- Batchwork
The batchwork category rewards those editors who clear the most entries from a single batch. In the highly likely event of a tie, the second-highest score will be used to determine the winner. Example: Two editors both clear 98 entries from two different batches. One editor also clears 96 entries from a batch, but the other only manages to clear 70 from his/her/its second batch. The first editor would win. Gold, silver, bronze, and runner-up not-quite-so-shiny metal barnstars will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and whateverth place respectively.
You can enter the contest at any point, and scores work retroactively, as well! Simply add your name and score to the appropriate category in numerical order. It is not necessary to add your name to the lists until the end of the contest, but it would be nice if some contestants occasionally made note of their progress here to give others an idea of the fierceness of the competition (Mega fierce? Über fierce? Time will tell). After all the entries have been cleared out, we will give the unlisted contestants a few days to tally up their scores and add their names. The top contestants will then be asked to provide diffs as evidence of their score.
