Reasons for this approach of a new mode of public service: 1. “The public interest is the result of a dialogue about shared values rather than the aggregation of individual self-interest.” (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 2. “Value citizenship over entrepreneurship” (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 3. “Think strategically, act democratically” (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 4. “Public servant are more attentive to the citizens rather than the market” (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 5. “Serve rather than steer: Value –based leadership in helping citizen articulate and meet their shared interest rather than attempting to control or steer society in new directions.” (Janet V Denhardt, 2007) 6. Public organization and the networks in which they participate are more likely to be successful in the long run if they are operate through processes of collaboration and shared leadership based on respect for all people.
