The goal of "Unseen"
editThe objective of the project is to improve visual representation of Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) individuals by commissioning artists to create portraits of those who don’t currently have their likenesses featured on their Wikipedia pages.
Articles that I've written or significantly edited about "BIPOC"
editI am 100% in favor of the objective of improving the English Wikipedia coverage of these topic areas, and my contributions to these articles proves that:

Current "Unseen" images in articles.
edit- The "Unseen" image recently added to this article seems to be based on a crop of slightly rotated and readily available Getty Images photo that can be seen easily in a Google Images search.
- This "Unseen" image seems to be based on a blending of the mirror images of two photos of her readily available online. The rendering of the eyeglass temple (bow) is a good clue. This watercolor portrait is clearly inferior to potential photos for the article, previously available under WP:NFCI #10.
- The problem is that once an image of a person of any quality (even if mediocre) is uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, it becomes impossible to add a better image to the English Wikipedia article under WP:NFCI #10. If the WMF was hiring talented artists of the photorealistic style, relying on many photos, there may be no problem. But these first two images, though possibly pleasant in other contexts, are not accurate representations of these people, are highly impressionistic, and are painted in a distracting color pallette. I see this as a developing problem.

- I do not see any images of her available online, although there are images of people categorized as "similar to her". Any created image needs to be analyzed skeptically.
