Bio
editAbout me
editI am a high schooler who lives in the Pacific Northwest. I enjoy drawing and painting a lot. I really like drawing the most because it allows me to be creative and and think out of the box. I also am amused by the great outdoors. I love doing anything outside like hiking, biking, swimming. Swimming improves your health and helps build strength overall.[1] I most especially appreciate the beautiful scenery the PNW offers.
My Wikipedia interests
editIf I am active on Wikipedia in the future, I will volunteer as an editor and fix grammar and spelling mistakes. I hope that the small changes I make to pages will benefit people in a way that they can understand what is being said.
Article Evaluation
editI've been interested in latte stones for a decent amount of time now. I am from an island where latte stones are part of the culture and environment. I wanted to know more information about latte stones, so with that in mind, I visited the latte stone article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: it's lack of citations, dead links, and it's lack of a link to the flag.
Citations
editI've noticed that the article has many wiki links, but not actual citations. There are some citations, but not many. A lot of the information is cited to one reference, meaning that, that one source was used used majority of the time to gather information. Also, the article could use more sources rather than collecting all needed information from one source. The sources cited don't seem very reliable.
Dead Links
editThe article contains a dead link which indicates that the page no longer exists/ works. The dead wiki link is associated to a time period that is correlated to the cultural context of the latte stone. One of the citations is also a dead link and can no longer be accessed due to the citation not being completely cited.
Flag of the Northern Mariana Islands
editThe latte stone is an important feature in the flag of the Northern Mariana Islands. The flag is centered around the latte stone and the latte stone page, surprisingly, doesn't include anything about the flag and it's importance. I feel that a simple thing to do is provide a wiki link.
Summary
editOverall, I would say that this page is "okay." It gave a good background about the topic, but there wasn't a lot of citations making it difficult to trust the information. Also, there are pieces of information missing from the page that I feel would make a better understanding of how the latte stone is incorporated in the culture. Lastly, there are dead links and citations in the article that make it seem less reliable than it already is.
