Introduction
editThis is the record of a set of checks I will be making into usage of birth dates in BLP articles. I have grabbed a random set of article titles from pages that transclude birth date and age. I intend to examine each to see if it is in fact a BLP (even though this template is only supposed to be used for living people) If it is, I will check to see if the birth date is cited to a source, anywhere in the article. If it is, I will check to see if the source(s) indicate that the birth date is already widely published, or clearly published with the approval of the subject, as specified in WP:DOB. If it isn't, I will edit to replace
YYYY
with
YYYY
In the table below, the first column is the name of the article; the second is whether the article is in fact a BLP (yes/no), the third is whether the birth date is cited anywhere in the article (yes/no), the fourth is whether such citation indicated wide publication (yes/no), the fifth is whether I made an edit to trim the date to a year, and the sixth is the date of such edit, if done.

- Edit summary
- rm exact date as per WP:DOB, limit to year only
- Talk page note
- As per WP:DOB (a section of the WP:BLP policy) I have removed the uncited exact date of birth from the article. It should not be restored unless it is not only cited, but cited to a source or soures which make it clear that the date has been widely published, or else published with the subject's approval. This might be clear if the sources is itself notable and widely published, or if there are multiple reliable sources, or if the sources says or plainly implies that the date was published with the subject's consent, or in other ways. The day and month of birth of a living person are of little encyclopedic value, while making them public can contribute to identity theft and other problems. The year suffices to place the subject in chronological context. See 39#Dates of birth and info boxes for discussion. ~~~~
