Criticism

edit

Criticism to date has been one one of three levels: 1) Why a comittee at all 2) Why a commitee with no teeth 3) The advanced age of the three Israelli members (average age, 85)[2]

Turkey and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas dismissed the Israeli investigation and said it would not meet demands set by the UN Security Council.[3] The Israeli newspaper Haaretz described the investigation as more and more like a "farce" and criticised its credibility and fairness.[4] UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon repeated the demand for an independent investigation, stating that the Israeli investigation will not have international credibility.[5]
