My academic passions are languages and music.
Some of my gripes about Wikipedia.
- That a large fraction of the WP community assigns low priority to article accuracy.
- I suspect that editors who gripe a lot about lack of comity don't realize, or don't care, that 99 percent of users see only the articles, they don't see the discussions between editors. Given that 99 percent of users don't read the Talk pages, and given that producing the articles is the mission of Wikipedia, i conclude that the accuracy of the articles is more important than avoiding harshness of tone when criticizing.
- So many Wikipedians are seemingly bamboozled by Wikification. They rate an article high because it has snazzy illustrations and uses many sophisticated templates, not noticing that the content is balderdash. Of course, a lot of the time, the main reason they don't realize the content is poppycock is they lack familiarity with the subject.
