At testing ground for whatever I happen to be doing at the moment

Item #: SCP-443
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Except when in ‘use’, SCP-433 is to be kept, together with SCP-433-1 (the ‘Beacon’) in a securely locked box or tub, such that it cannot be easily opened. The object(s) are to be stored in Sector-28 or an equivalent. [OOC note – I’m not sure what facility is ideal to house them.]
Description: SCP-433 is a group of eight (8) 6-inch-high humanoid figures, resembling toys. They are constructed from wood and painted, but have no facial features. SCP-433-1 (henceforth known as the ‘Beacon’) is a wooden pole of the same height, with legs so that it can stand up. Additionally, it has a ‘button’ on the top of it that can be pushed in or pulled out.
When the button on top of the beacon is pulled out, the figures will not respond. However, if the button is pushed in, the figures will animate. They will attempt to move to SCP-433-1’s position as best as they can. Furthermore, they will use objects in the area, as well as themselves, to help achieve this goal. For example they might make a ladder out of toothpicks if SCP-433-1 is up high. They may also climb on each other’s shoulders. When the figures locate the beacon, they will attempt to generally construct or improve objects in the area using what they have at hand. They seem to have some sort of sentience, as they easily react to the environment around them. They seem to have no problem with human activity around them, happily interacting with others. However, if someone is hostile towards them, they will concentrate on self-preservation.
SCP-433 was recovered from the ██████ area, in the May of 20██. The person who had possession of them, one Michael █████, said they were a ‘collectors item’. █████ knew about SCP-433’s animating properties, and made it no secret in that area, hence eventual detection by the Foundation. To be recovered, they were swapped with a non-animating duplicate.
Experiment Log 433-a: The figures were placed in the centre of a testing chamber, with a steel ‘tower’ made from cylinders. The tower was around 3 meters high. A shelf, around 2 meters from the ground, was also placed on a wall, with SCP-433-1 placed upon it. SCP-433-1 was remotely activated. The figures then proceeded to gather around the base of the tower. Their combined force was sufficient to topple the tower in the direction of the shelf, so that it formed a ‘bridge’. The figures then scaled the tower and gathered near SPC-433-1. The test was stopped.
Addendum 433-1: Pretty textbook. Let’s put more variation into further tests. – Dr ████ [OOC note – I’ve no idea who should play this part.]
Experiment Log 433-b: Seven (7) figures were placed into the test chamber, with the same setup as the previous test, however the eighth figure was placed on a platform at the top of the tower. SCP-433-1 was then activated; the figures ‘piled up’ on top of each other and the figure on the tower jumped off, using his comrades as a cushion to protect him from the fall. They then toppled the tower and located SCP-433-1 as in the previous test.
Addendum 433-2: Seems that they look out for themselves before other things. ‘s funny they knew exactly what to do, though – I doubt the tower guy could have seen the others. We should see if they have some kind of telepathy or something. – Dr ████
Experiment Log 433-c: The figures were divided into two groups of four, and each group was placed into a closed box so it couldn’t reach or see the other group. SCP-433-1 was placed in another box, in view of both of them. Additionally, a button was placed in each box – they controlled either of two doors, so that both needed to be pressed simultaneously for SCP-433-1 to be accessed. This was demonstrated to the figures, and then SCP-433-1 was activated. The figures quickly and easily moved to and pressed the buttons at the same time, causing SCP-433-1 to fall. They then gathered around it while the test was stopped.
Addendum 433-3: They seem to know exactly what everyone needs to do at any given time. Quite neat, if you ask me. I suggest that in future tests we concentrate more on what they do when around 433-1.
