Born and raised in the streets of Meadowlands to Molly Makhubela and Lesley "Mbobe" Batsegi, Soweto proved to be strong training ground for this young talent. His single mother, Molly, being a lover of soulful and South African sounds, inspired and planted a seed of music into Thabo.

From an early age, Thabo recalls being a huge fan of artists like Chico Twala and Brenda Fassie. Thabo's singing career only began later in his life during his teenage years where he sang in the church choir, although hip hop was a major influence to him at this time - he was always present at Gandhi Square cyphers and at sessions like Kasi Mental and Dungeon Shack.

Thabo studied a bit of musicology upon completion of highschool, where he learnt piano, band management, arrangement, sound engineering, song composition, and stage performance.

Being a vocalist and storyteller, Thabo and his friend, Tumelo Mtshali, initiated a band called Soul Kishin which had its debut gig at the Soweto Beer Festival in 2009. The collaborative still works together on various projects although the individual members are predominantly working on solo projects.
