About
editProcess physics (PP) is a non-geometric "process" model of the fundamental reality of the universe. PP is founded and developed by Dr. Reginald Cahill of Flinders University.
New About
editProcess Physics is a hypothetical model for the foundation of physics, established and advanced by Dr. Reginald Cahill of Flinders University, in South Australia.
Process model of reality
editIn response to the limitations of logic discovered by Godel, reality is explicitly not modeled using a formal system, for which the meaning of the values would need to be applied externally. Rather, a dynamic foam of space is seen to self-organize within a more basic, dimensionless (and totally connected) Neural network-like matrix of purely self-referential connectivity information. The structure of strong connectivity that forms through iterations of a simple rule is a fractal, topologically 3-dimensional network.
Time
editThe concept of time in PP is simply to equate it directly with process. This gives a clear distinction between past, present and future, without the problems and paradoxes inherent in a geometrical view of time.
This view of time makes reference to the philosophy of Heraclitus of Ephesus. This is in stark contrast to most standard models that treat time as a dimension.
Matter and Gravity
editAn alternate interpretation of gravity is also developed, in which gravity is seen as the influx of space into matter.
Criticism
editSome physicists have attacked Process physics, a common criticism being that it is a Fringe physics.
Relativity
editThe fact that PP refutes General Relativity has certainly caused many knee-jerk reactions against it, but PP doesn't refute that Relativity is a useful formalism, only that it is an inadequate explanation for the actual structure of the universe.
Relativistic effects are seen to emerge from the underlying dynamical 3-space, and the predictive power of classical, relativistic and quantum physics is not discarded, but framed within with an underlying explanation of the detailed mechanisms that allow these models to make so many good predictions.
Theory of Everything
editAthough PP has not been well received by the world physics community, it is still notable as a candidate for a Theory of Everything.
