Stajnica is a village in the municipality Brinje.

Geography

Still in progress (2015-08-16) The village of Stajnica is in the north-east part of the municipality of Brinje, or in northern Lika. This is a typical karst area, which includes the Stajnica karst field and the surrounding mountain areas and Jaruga stream. The field in Stajnica is located on the southern slopes of the Stajničko field is located on the southern slopes of Mala Kapela ridge of mountains. The area is surrounded by wooded mountain areas and provides beautiful landscapes. The total area of ​​the basin is 63 km ². The dominant peaks of Mala Kapela on the north side are : Veliki panos (Great "panos") (1,079 m) and Oštri vrh (Sharp peak) (1,164 m).

On the west side we find the Crnačka (Black) field, basin area 34 km ² and the neighboring towns Jezerane and Crnač. On the eastern side is the Glibodol field with a basin area of 46 km². On the west side of the Glibodol fields, one finds the village of Lipice, which was previously part of the Stajnica parish but has since separated into a separate parish. Stajnica consists of several independent, predominantly patriarch based villages that are located on the edges Stajnica fields. On the north side we find Porkulab, Kolišć, Rajković, Krznarić, Smit, Dumenčić, Majtinić, Sveti Peter Vučetić and Čarape Village, on the eastern edge of the fields are Ujac and Tominac Draga, and located on the south side are Žižić, Hill Fires, Murković, Mesić and Štefanić.

The avarage altitude of Stajnica varies between 497 metres above sea level (Jezerane), 505,2 (Church), 511 (Čarapovo Selo) and 554 (Tominac Draga). On the south side of Stajnica Kopanje Veliko and Malo (631 m), Jelak (626 m), Mesic's tip, the tip of Peter and Paul, Šašina mala (Plantaš) and Kalun (729 m) hills stretch away. East of the village Tominac Drage is the biggest tip of a hill at 656 meters above sea level. Further to the southwest, the Velebit ridge begins (Senjsko either). In these mountain areas there are vast mountain pastures and meadows that have been used from time immemorial by Stajnica's shepherds. Upper Stajnica had pastures and meadows as Mekote, Brezovača, Dolac, Črnetićka, Strmar, Petrovićeva biljevina, Velika i Mala Mrkovina, Slime, Strižakovica, Javorovka, Krševine, Leskovka, Tomašićka (izvor), Paljevina, Vršeljak, Dumenčićeva Javorovka, Krčel, Pajine drage, Lokvice, Kozjaci, Stara i Nova biljevina, Sinokoše, Vršak, Tavan, Škura žliba, Jasenovka, Krčevina, Kodrićka, Brezovača, Uvala, Žliba, Beli i Crni Javor, Ravna Draga, Runjavica, Sinokoše, Zidenica, Bujednjaci, Velika i Mala žila, Tavan, Krč, Sebrde, Kujača, Velika uvala, Stojanka, Živa voda and other smaller areas.

Above the south side of the field are also rich pastures, such as Kopanje, Veliko kopanje, Kalun, Medvidnjaci, Šprajčeva javorovka, Mašićevi krči, Pavlakovo, Šmitova ravan, Skraj krči, Banov vršak, Lukić, Vučetićeve strane, Ulica, Kladice, Strežbenica, Ćevin krč. And all of these areas were regularly mowed or used for light grazing.

Economy

The current population is mainly engaged in agriculture and breeding livestock. Other than mixed grass for cattle feed, alfalfa and red clover are also cultivated. Other crops primarily include potatoes, which is still fairly extensive, even though the existing soil and climate are favorable for its intensive cultivation. Barley, oats, wheat and corn are grown in small quantities. Fruit production is mostly reduced to plums (blue Bistrica), which is largely contaminated by the common viper. Plum is mostly used for brandy production but conditions exist for plums to be dried and "konfekcionira". There are very good conditions for the production of ecologically pure agricultural seed and marketable products such as cabbage and possibly beets, which can be canned by smaller establishments. Other types of fruits are grown in minimal amounts.

Since Croatia lacks significant amounts of malt for beer, there are opportunities for the production of spring barley and oat and barley flakes. There are exceptional conditions and to collect various medicinal and aromatic plants, which is now a world trend. Livestock can have a major share in total agricultural production, because there are excellent conditions for hay production, but also large areas of pasture. This applies particularly to the development of sheep and goats and cattle breeding. This would intensify the production of milk and dairy products and meat production, and fresh and semi-products.

On the creek gullies are good opportunities for quality development of sport and recreational fishing and the development of small fisheries, as after World War II was a lot of current, but due to lack of understanding of the wider community that the project failed. Forests kapelskog mountains should become the basis for the exploitation and processing of wood in various ways and for different purposes. There are very large stocks of timber.

Stajničko and the surrounding area provides excellent opportunities for development of hunting, rural, "Robinson", recreational tourism (hiking, caving, swimming, horseback riding, biking, sledding and skiing ...) Tourism could develop and food production that is specific to this climate: trout, lamb, goat and sheep cheese, and "Literatura", basa, sour milk, corn flour, cabbage, sour milk, herbs, local honey, mushrooms, venison and brandy . Home-made handicrafts such as biljac, woolen socks, "Iris" and many other local products can be interesting contemporary consumer. By building a strategic road corridor Zagreb-Split and Yellow Pool - the river will be part of the future "Jadranskojonskog corridor will significantly open up the area and its wider availability of tourist needs, not only the mainland but also the coastal region.

Obzirom da Hrvatskoj nedostaju značajne količine pivskog slada postoje mogućnosti za proizvodnju jarog ječma, te zobenih i ječmenih pahuljica. Postoje izuzetni uvjeti i za sakupljanje raznog ljekovitog i aromatskog bilja, što je danas svjetski trend. Stočarstvo može imati veliki udio u ukupnoj poljodjelskoj proizvodnji, iz razloga što postoje izvrsni uvjeti za proizvodnju sijena, ali i velike površine pašnjaka. To se posebno odnosi na razvoj ovčarstva i kozarstva ali i govedarstva. Ovime bi se intenzivirala proizvodnja mlijeka i mliječnih proizvoda ali i proizvodnja mesa, te svježih i polutrajnih proizvoda. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Na potoku Jarugi postoje povoljne mogućnosti kvalitetnog razvoja športsko-rekreacionog ribolova i razvoj malog ribarstva, što je poslije Drugog svjetskog rata bilo dosta aktualno, ali je zbog nerazumijevanja šire zajednice taj projekt propao. Šumsko bogatstvo kapelskog gorja trebalo bi postati temelj za iskorištavanje i preradu drveta na razne načine i u različite svrhe. Postoje izuzetno velike zalihe drvne mase. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Stajničko i okolno područje daje izuzetne mogućnosti za razvoj lovnog, seoskog, “robinzonskog”, rekreativnog turizma (planinarenje, speleologija, kupanje, jahanje, biciklizam, sanjkanje i skijanje…) Turizam bi mogao razviti i proizvodnju hrane koja je specifična ovom podneblju: pastrva, janjetina, kozji i ovčji sir, ali i “Škripavac”, basa, kiselo mlijeko, palenta, kupus, kiselo mlijeko, ljekovito bilje, domaći med, gljive, divljač i rakija. Domaći ručni radovi poput biljaca, vunenih čarapa, “šarenice” i mnogo drugih autohtonih proizvoda mogu biti interesantni suvremenom potrošaču. Izgradnjom strateškog cestovnog koridora Zagreb-Split i Žuta Lokva - Rijeka koji će biti u sastavu budućeg “Jadranskojonskog koridora” bitno će se otvoriti ovo područje i njegova dostupnost širim turističkim potrebama, ne samo kontinentalnoj već i primorskoj regiji. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
