Plowrightia is a genus of fungi belonging to the family Dothioraceae.[1]

The genus name of Plowrightia is in honour of Charles Bagge Plowright (1849–1910), who was a British doctor and mycologist.[2]

The genus was circumscribed by Pier Andrea Saccardo in Syll. Fung. vol.2 on page 635 in 1883.

Plowrightia mereschkowskyi is lichenicolous fungus (a parasite on living lichens) (on Aspicilia hispida).[3]
