The Wikimedia Foundation rakes in so much money annually, that the 34% of it supposedly used for "Direct support to communities" that create and maintain Wikimedia projects, should be enough for that support to be of the highest class. Instead, we get "support" capable of engineering this utterly ludicrous fiasco.
One of the great things about volunteering is that when an organisation supposedly devoted to supporting you shows itself incapable of providing a level of support that you consider adequate, there are no adverse consequence from simply withdrawing your labour, which is what I have now done. However, some of my contributions to Wikipedia have turned out to be either not quite accurate, open to misinterpretation, or have become so owing to discoveries made after I stopped editing. Since I consider myself obliged to correct any of these that I become aware of, I have found it necessary to make a small number of edits to Wikipedia since I decided to stop.
Until April 2021, I was able to make the few corrections I felt were necessary to my previous contributions without logging in to any account. The only way I could upload these images to Commons, however, was from a Wikimedia account. Since I had scrambled the password to this account, and irrevocably deleted all copies from my password mananger, I created Freda Nurk so I could perform any edits I felt obliged to make and for which I needed an account to do so.
There are unlikely to be many future occasions when I feel obliged to edit any Wikimedia project. For any that do occur, however, I will either perform the edits from the Freda Nurk account, or without logging in.
