David Robert Wright (b 29 May, 1984) was born in Corvallis, Oregon, where he lived on a small farm north of town until college, when he moved into Corvallis proper to attend Oregon State University. He graduated from Crescent Valley High School with honors and is in his senior year (with a planned super-senior year) studying music education and vocal performance with a French minor.
He is a devout Christian, but not a Republican. David has a lot of opinions on a lot of subjects related to religion, politics, and politics and religion. It is for these reasons that he avoids editing Wikipedia articles related to these subjects. He is frustrated not so much that religions get involved in politics, but in the way they do so--he believes that it is destructive both to the religions and to the political systems, the way things are now. If you ask, David will be happy to give more details on his opinions, but you are likely to receive so much detail that your brain tries to escape.
Despite all this, he's a pretty affable fellow and is not known to get incensed when another disagrees with him. He enters debates and shares his opinions wanting to determine the truth of the matter, not to try to prove he is right.
With the rest of his time, David is a staunch supporter of the Macintosh and Open Source Software. Though not a programmer by training, he hangs out with programmers and reads developers' blogs enough that he can understand what they're talking about. It's just that he has no clue what to type when he's sitting down in front of the keyboard. The closest he has ever come to real programming was back when HyperCard was available for the Macintosh, but that's more scripting than actual programming. He is extremely proficient with XHTML 1.0 and CSS 2.1. His blog, available here, was entirely designed in nano using his shell account at OSU. David uses the Dvorak Simplified Keyboard Layout because he plays the piano and is trying to save his wrists for as long as possible.
Speaking of music, David sings baritone and plays the guitar and piano. He can't compose worth a damn though.
David joined Wikipedia because he thoroughly enjoys writing and feels that Wikipedia is good for his writing and good for the world.
David hates writing about himself in the third person.
