Hi, I am David Hodgson and I joined Wikipedia on 14th January, 2014.
I have a keen interested in Morecambe and the surrounding area as my family have lived here for many generations. My great, great uncle, Thomas Baxter, was a local councilor and built some of Morecambe's early hotels and the Victoria Pavillion (Winter Gardens).
I studied local history as a student in the Department of Continuing Education at Lancaster University (the course teaches you how to undertake research as opposed to actual local history) and have also attended courses on architectural appreciation. After the running down of the Dept. of ContEd due to reduced Government funding I continued on the peripatetic courses in architecture run by the Workers' Education Association.
I also have an interest in transport, especially railways, and worked as a volunteer at Steamtown, Carnforth during its heyday.
