ExactRail is a manufacturer and distributor of model railroad rolling stock and accessories.

History

edit

ExactRail was founded in 2008 as a partnership between Chris Clune (as CEO) and John Pestana (as chairman). The first models began selling in February of 2009.[1]

Intially, ExactRail products could be purchased through a network of authorized dealers as well as directly from ExactRail through their online store. In April of 2012, ExactRail announced that they would be discontinuing their dealer network as of May 1, 2012. This shift was reportedly an effort to decrease consumer cost in the face of increased production costs.[2]

ExactRail engineers and tools the molds for its models at its Orem, Utah facility.

Organizational changes

edit

In January of 2011, Clune and Pestana announced that Clune would be retiring from ExactRail. Pestana took on the role of CEO while Clune remained a friend of the company and planned to "continue to be a source of inspiration and direction for ExactRail’s precision product development team."[3].

In January of 2012, Pestana turned over the role of CEO to Dan Larson. Pestana continues to serve as chairman of ExactRail.
