David Chinyama (born 1976 Harare) is a Toronto based Zimbabwean-Canadian multi-disciplinary artist, working across art disciplines of painting, sculpture, interactive media design and film. An alumni of National Gallery of Zimbabwe School of Art and Design and Harare Polytechnic College in Harare Zimbabwe, Chinyama burst into the Zimbabwean mainstream art scene in 2003. In 2004 he had his first major solo exhibition ( Visual Poetry) with the National Gallery of Zimbabwe followed by several solo shows in US and Europe. His thought provoking work recieved recognition at the National Merit Awards (NAMA) in (2005), and 2013) for Outstanding 2-Dimensional Work as well as several other awards in Zimbabwe and Canada. Since moving to Toronto Canada in 2016, he continues to pursue full-time practice as a visual artiast as well studies in film and interactive media design. In 2020 he founded ARTSPACE-263, a start up interactive media design studio that is also into manufacturing of traditional hand made artist paints. His works sits in many public and private collections across the world.
