DeShawn Mabon also known as “kingscar” or “scar” is Jamaican American male in his early 20’s most recognized for his hits “Falling Apart” and “Dream Stealers”. Ever since a toddler he’s always had a passion for music and art but made it his reality at the age of 10. At this time he started creating music and art that depicted his childhood and tragic upbringing. He was raised by a single mother along with his younger sister Amaria. He became her protector and guidance as they both grew up with minimal engagement with their fathers. Along with many other kids, DeShawn was one of the oldest of his fathers kids. In 2014 he lost his youngest brother Nehemiah (Nemo) at the age of 2. After this traumatic loss, DeShawn was driven and motivated to focus on music but was more lost than anything. Shortly after his brother’s death, his father was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Nehemiah. As you could imagine DeShawn’s life took a brutal turn. In 2015, his aunt had a child on December 25th (Christmas), whom DeShawn formed a very special bond with after losing his brother. Nine months later he passed away and this left DeShawn in very deep state of depression and loneliness. Just months before 2016, DeShawn was adopted and welcomed into the home of his pastor (Angela Huntley). Her family took him under their wings and gave him a whole new meaning to life. He transferred schools and finished out his high school years at Mattawan High school. Where he was well known and respected by his peers and authority figures. In 2017 he was chosen as one of the leaders at his High school and won multiple awards and attended a field trip to Catalyst University where bet met Mateen Cleaves. He was also a member of the Men’s varsity Lacrosse and Football team. In 2018 he graduated with a 3.8 gpa and multiple academic scholarships. After doing two years at Kalamazoo Valley Community College and making the honor roll both years, he transferred to Michigan State University where he majors in Neuroscience and minors in film studies/business.
