Early Life and Education
Austin Rains is an American geoscientist and educator based in Vancouver, Washington. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geological and Earth Sciences from the University of Washington in 2016. Following his undergraduate studies, he pursued a Master of Science in Applied Geosciences at the University of Washington, graduating in 2019. Rains furthered his qualifications with a Master’s in Secondary Education and Teaching from Washington State University Vancouver in 2020.
Career
Rains began his career with volunteer roles that combined his interests in geology and environmental science. He worked as a Volunteer Scientist at Mount Rainier National Park (2018–2019) and a Volunteer Staff member with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) at the Cascades Volcano Observatory from 2017 to 2018.
