Dr Deepak Gupta Conducted first successful Craniopagus (Conjoined twins joined at head) separation surgery for Indian on Odisha twins (Jaga- Balia) (in year 2017 at All India Institute of Medical Sciences , New Delhi, India) who were totally fused at head and were considered inseparables. With this surgical feat, he has shown that doing most complex pediatric neurosurgical procedures is feasible and safe in India. This is first successful twin separation surgery on Craniopagus conjoined twin from India.

He holds Indian Record in Limca Book of Records in December 2019 for first successful separation surgery of craniopagus - conjoined twins in India. The surgery was conducted in 2 stages on 28th August 2017 ( 25 hrs) and 25th October ( 20 hrs) by a 125 member team led by Dr Deepak Gupta ( LBR 2020)

He completed his Neurosurgery Residency from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India in year 2004.

He completed his PHD in Neurosurgery from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India in year 2019. He is the first faculty who completed PHD in neurosurgery while serving as faculty in department of neurosurgery.

He is leading Fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery Programme at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India since year 2018.

He has submitted patents towards development of Cost effective implant technology . Parallel Manipulators for testing various implants.
