Dennis Conlon (born 23 September 1947 in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England) Dennis was born in Leeds to an Irish mother and Peruvian father and has a younger brother called John and sister called Jackie. He started working life as a musician (percussionist) before becoming an actor and then an author. Best known as an actor with extensive credits in film, TV, theatre and radio. Career [edit] Dennis became a drummer straight from school aged 15 and played with dozens of bands with his most notable success coming in the prog rock era with Jan Dukes De Grey. Where he had three albums released, “Mice and Rats in the Loft”, 1972 “Sorcerers” 1969 and then retrospectively, “Strange Terrain” 2012. They also supported a number of bands in that era, such as The Who, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Free, Emerson Lake & Palmer and topped the bill over others such as Genesis, Hawkwind and Wishbone Ash. Following this a series of session gigs eventually joining cabaret band Jasper/Smart Ass. Dennis went on to attended drama school, Manchester Poly 1984/87 which led to a very successful career as an actor with over a hundred screen productions. He is better known as an actor with extensive credits in television, film and theatre, having played The Chief in Channel 4’s Shameless, ran Mr Patel’s corner shop in BBC’s Waterloo Road and was Dennis Waterman’s landlord, Clive, in YTV’s Stay lucky. His other successes include all the usual soaps, Coronation Street, Casualty, The Bill etc. and films including: Rita, Sue & Bob Too. As a writer, the play “Tadpoles” was performed by M6 Theatre on tour throughout the Northwest and also in the BC Buds Festival in Vancouver. Whilst doing Shameless, was invited to get involved on their Shadow Writing Scheme: also took part in a scheme, the BAME Initiative, to write storylines for the soap Emmerdale. He was the winner of "Small Changes" Competition with "Tadpoles", which subsequently toured the North West for M6 Theatre. Also performed at The Firehall Arts Centre in the BC BUDS Festival in Vancouver, Canada. Short-listed in the BBC BANG/Oldham Coliseum Competition with "Race Relations". Had North West Playwrights’ reading of “High Heel Sneakers” done at the Salford Lowry and “White Wolf” screenplay considered for development by Script Factory organisation: His first of novel trilogy “Sex And Gods And Rock And Roll” was published in 2014.
