Lincoln Christian University, known until September 2009 as Lincoln Christian College and Seminary,[1] is comprised of Lincoln Christian College (LCC), Lincoln Christian Seminary (LCS), and the Hargrove School, all located in Lincoln, Illinois. LCU is affiliated with the Independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ.
LCC is a private four year, co-educational, residential Bible college offering Certificates, Associate's and Bachelor's degrees.[2] LCS is a graduate seminary offering Master's and Doctoral degrees, including an MDiv.[2] The Hargrove School offers continuing educational programs.[1]
LCC and LCS have been accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education since 1954,[2] and by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1991.[3] LCS has also been accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada since 1991.[4]
Religious emphasis
editAs a Bible college accredited by the ABHE, LCU must subscribe to that association's Tenets of Faith,[5] which include an affirmation of the doctrine of Biblical infallibility. In accord with the ABHE's requirement that "all programs [enable] students to achieve a biblical worldview",[6] undergraduates pursuing a four-year degree must complete at least 30 credit hours in Biblical studies.[1]
Full-time students are required to attend weekly worship services on campus, as well as participate in 'Spiritual Formation Groups' for "group devotion, prayer, and accountability."[7]
