Bone Student Center

Bone Student Center, an activity center at Illinois State University is the center of student life. Located in Normal, Illinois, at the corner of University and College streets, completed in 1973. The building was named after Robert G. Bone, president of Illinois State University from 1956-1967, on the University's 125th anniversary in 1982 [1]. The Bone Student Center is a very large building which includes different restaurants, bowling and billiards, stores, and the Braden Auditorium. Many students come here to take a break from studying to come shopping or for some entertainment.

Braden Auditorium

The Braden Auditorium opened in 1973 as the University Union Auditorium.[2] In 1983, the auditorium was renamed after the University's president, Dr. Samuel Braden. The auditorium is very large that holds a capacity of 3,457.[3] The distance from the rear of the balcony is 174 feet.

Braden Past Shows

Illinois State keeps it's students entertained in past years. Many famous actors and bands come to entertain students and people of the community. Some of the famous actors and bands include: Amy Grant, Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Cosby, Johnny Cash, Prince.[4]

Bowling and Billards

The Bowling and Billiards center is a great spot to get away from school-life. This is a spot for students and families to bowl, play table tennis, billiards, and more.

Stores inside the Bone Student Center provide students and the community access to books, credit cards and loans, and student apparel. The Barnes and Noble inside the bone is the official bookstore of Illinois State University. [5] The bookstore provides books for students, ISU apparel, and more. Across from the bookstore is the technology department or Tech Zone. Tech Zone serves the entire University including colleges/departments/areas, in the areas of computer sales, support, and service. [6] Next to the technology department is the ISU Credit Union. The ISU credit Union provides over students and residents of Mclean County with credit cards, loans, and more. [7]
