The Bone Student Center is the focus of Student life at Illinois State University. Located at 100 N. University St., the Bone Student Center serves not only students but also the Bloomington-Normal community . Inside the Student Center there are restaurants, stores, student resources, the Braden Auditorium, and other rooms to used for events. Whether it be social, educational, or entertainment, the Bone Student Center is the core of events and activities on campus.

History

The Bone Student Center was erected in 1973, and was originally named the Union and Auditorium. The named changed in 1982 to The Bone Student Center in honor of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Bone. Dr. Bone was the ninth president of Illinois State University. In the same year, the Auditorium was renamed after Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Braden. Dr. Braden was the tenth president of ISU.

Restaurants

There are five restaurants inside the Bone Student Center. They include McAlister's Deli, Burger King, Einstein Bros. Bagels, BBC Snack Bar, and Pizza Hut Express. McAlister's Deli has over 100 menu options, and is a great place to go if you're looking for a good meal. Whether your dinning in or carrying out, they have multiple specialty sandwiches and wraps, as well as homemade soups, salads, and their famous sweet tea. Mcalister's is open Monday-Saturday from 11a.m to 8 p.m. and is closed on Sundays. Located on the bottom floor, McAlister's is a friendly place you can relax and unwind from the busy day. Burger King is on the second floor of the Student Center. Open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 3 p.m. to 9p.m. on Sunday, Burger King has all their specialties. From Burgers to Chicken strips, you won't be let down. Burger King is now open for breakfast on campus to feed your hungry with biscuit and croissant sandwiches. Einstein Bros. Bagels is the main stop for coffee at the Bone Student Center. Not only do they have coffee, lattes and smoothies, but Einsteins also serves sandwiches, baked goods and fresh fruit. The BBC Snack Bar can be found in the Bowling and Billiards Center near the Bone Student Center. The snack bar offers a variety of snack foods including hot dogs, nachos, pizza and soda. Pizza Hut Express is located on the second floor of the student center and are open Monday through Thursday 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday 10:30-6p.m., and is closed Saturday and Sunday. Although the full Pizza Hut menu isn't available, personal pan pizzas, bread sticks, pasta, and wings can be purchased.

Stores

Inside the Bone Student Center is TechZone, Barnes and Noble, and the Lobby Shop. TechZone is the main place on campus for computer sales, service and support. TechZone focuses on the student community and supports the Campus Technology Support Group. Barnes and Noble is the official ISU bookstore on campus. They sell, rent, and buy back books. Apparel, supplies, and electronics are also sold in the bookstore. The Lobby Shop is the convince store in the Bone Student Center. They are located on the first floor and have over 400 products on hand. The Lobby Shop also sells daily editions of the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, and The Pantagraph.

Student Resources

The main goal of the Bone Student Center is to provide resources for students. The Student Center Provides study and meeting places, ISU Credit Union, PIP Printing, Redbird Card Office, and many more. Inside the Bone Student center are rooms, lounges, and the courtyard Garden for students to relax, do homework, or plan a meeting for a group. The ISU Credit Union was founded in 1960 to serve the employees of Illinois State. However over the years more people have joined and they now serve more than 10,000 people who work and live in Mclean County. PIP Printing has the latest technology to print anything you need. PIP Printing has high-speed black and white printing, color printing, offset and digital printing, book printing, digital printing and it doesn't stop there. They can make posters, banners, and can also perform direct-to-plate printing. The Redbird Card Office creates all Illinois State University students, staff/faculty, and other types of ID cards. The Redbird Card is used to show identification, discounts, access of vending, copy, laser printer, and laundry machines. The Redbird Card can also be used for events. The Redbird Card Office is responsible for receiving deposits for the Redbird Account, monitoring the card system, and the accounting for all Redbird Accounts.

Braden Auditorium

The Braden Auditorium opened in 1973 as the University Union Auditorium. In 1983, the auditorium was renamed after the university's tenth president Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Braden. The Braden Auditorium also has it's own Box Office. It is an official Ticketmaster outlet and sells tickets for events in the Bone Student Center, Braden Auditorium, Illinois State University Redbird Athletics home games, and Illinois State University Center for the Performing Arts. The Braden Auditorium can fit up to 3,457 people including accessible seating.
