Bracklesham is a coastal village in the Chichester district of West Sussex, England. It lies within the Civil parish of East Wittering and Bracklesham
The village is 8 miles (13 km) southwest of Chichester, on the Manhood Peninsula about 1 mile (1.6 km) east of the centre of the village of East Wittering. The villages have spread into each other and there is some ambiguities as to the dividing line, with East Wittering tending to dominate. ( )
History
editGovernance
editThe village lies within the East Witter electoral ward and the East Wittering and Bracklesham civil parish.
Geography
editThe eastern and southern edges of Bracklesham Village are reasonably defined by the Parish Boundary. There is some confliction as to the dividing line between East Wittering Village amd Bracklesham. The stream that passes to the west of Coney Six' road is the easternmost tip of the boundary. And the sign in stocks lane perpendicular to the coast at that point seems to verify that (that sign was removed at some point after June 2011). [1][2][3]. However Downview Close resident has always insisted they were in East Wittering! putting the boundary at least as far back as the stream running to east of downview close. OS maps since 1900's have tended to place the area around Stocks Lane as East Wittering. Becent open mapping data asl does the same, however these place the Lively Lady in East Wittering, and it is very definitely Bracklesham.
Demography
editDefinitive demography information is recorded at civil parish level. Brackleshams demography will be broadly similar that of East Wittering, however Bracksham does have more caravans.Cite error: A <ref>
