The Horse
I look straight ahead,
I see only one thing,
Running, sprinting, galloping, jumping,
I seek only the one thing which I can see,
I go as fast as I can to try and reach it,
I can't quite see what it is but I know that I want it,
faster and faster
I run
Faster and faster
I gallop
a tree lies in my way
I jump
A cliff lies ahead,
I soar
to the sky I fly,
I land on the other side and-
I find that what I was chasing wasn't as I thought
I stop and catch my breath.
I take off my blinders and find that the whole time-
I've been followed-
When I ran-
When I jumped-
When I galloped-
When I flew-
Always there-
The mysterious traveler offers me a drink.
Never have I tasted such water as that,
Smooth like milk
Refreshing as any
I ask myself “Why?”
Why have I worn these blinders the whole time?
I'll never know...
