Hi, I'm DoubleDoctorZack♾. I'm an autistic and multiply-neurodivergent psychiatrist-in-training (with an additional Ph.D. in neuroscience and strong background in quantitative psychology/psychometrics) who primarily works in autism research. If you're also an autism researcher, you can probably guess who I am 😉.

I'm fairly new to Wikipedia, though I'm hoping to stick around for a while and integrate some of the knowledge I do have (especially on topics like autism, developmental disabilities, psychopathology, psychopharmacology, sound tolerance disorders [e.g., hyperacusis/misophonia], and interventional psychiatry) into this lovely community.

Articles I'm Going To Improve/To-do (More to be added)
Article Title To do Status?
Misophonia
  • Find suitable lead photo
  • Add citations to all sections
  • Add action-perception theory
  • Add references to major organizations (MRF, SoQuiet, Duke CMER, etc.)
  • De-emphasize weird non-EBP treatment in treatment section (left over from page merge in Jan) in favor of CBT that actually has evidence/published sources
  • Consider a "notable people" section (maybe just "see also") that can be used to build pages for misophonia-relevant researchers/practitioners/activists
  • Ensure appropriate neutrality/de-emphasis of biased perspectives throughout (no extra Jastreboff, no extra psychologizing or "anti-psychologizing," no Dozier leftovers/weird grift)
  • Discussing optimal photo
  • Sourcing articles for citations
International Meeting for Autism Research
  • Ensure community is OK with page transition into INSAR page, due to potential COI I have as previous officer of organization. See talk page for more details.
  • Once consensus established, convert page (if nobody else does it), provide basic info, INSAR logo, overview of current board members and staff.
  • Established talk page post (linked to WP: Autism) about page conversion, have lively conversation going.
  • Consensus thus far seems that conversion is a good idea, INSAR is sufficiently notable for its own page, in fact IMFAR may not need a page and should be merged within.

Possible Articles I Might Create
Article Title Relevance/Notability
Misophonia Research Fund Basically the (only) misophonia research funder ($10M in grants and counting!)
SoQuiet Primary misophonia patient advocacy organization. Has partnerships with MRF and other legitimate orgs within the field.
Zachary Rosenthal Major player in misophonia research and clinical practice. Leader of MRF scientific advisory board. Arguably the most prominent figure in the misophonia field.
Jane Gregory (Psychologist) Another major player in misophonia research and clinical practice. Has brought awareness of misophonia to the UK along with Silia Vitoratou (who probably deserves her own page). Making major advances in how we conceptualize and treat misophonia.
Sukhbinder Kumar Provided major mechanistic insights into misophonia with 2017 'brain basis of misophonia' paper and 2021 'motor basis of misophonia' paper, as well as 2024 'action perception' (Berger-Gander-Kumar) model. One of the primary theorists in the field.
Pawel Jastreboff Originally coined the term misophonia in 2001. One of the "fathers" of decreased sound tolerance research and practice. Genuinely surprised he doesn't have a page.
Jamie Ward (Neuroscientist) International expert on synesthesia, misophonia, past president of British association for cog-neuro. Also surprised he doesn't have a page.
Lauren Hart Hargrove MRF Executive director. Major player in misophonia research.
